Will there be medals?
Yes! All registered runners and walkers will receive a finisher's medal!
Are there prizes?
All participants will receive a finisher's medal and we will also award our Top 3 Male and Female finishers.
What do I get with my registration?
All registered participants will receive a race bib, swag bag, Mama Yu's 5k race cap, and other goodies! Also, all proceeds are donated to the Sunnybrook Schulich Heart Program!
I've never run before, can I handle a 5k?
Of course! You can register as a walker and still participate and earn a well deserved finisher's medal, or you can run as best as you can and take breaks if you need! Don't worry, our volunteers will be cheering you on the whole way!
What do I do with my bib?
Race bibs not only show that you registered but have your timing chip on the back. In order to get an accurate finishing time, bibs should be worn on the front of your top and be visible during the race.
Do I run the whole time? Is it okay if I walk? Is it okay if I take a break?
If you run, you are a runner! It is okay to take a walk break from time to time. If you are beginning your running journey, consider run:walk intervals, like running for 1 minute then walking for 1 minute.
Can I wear headphones?
Yes, but for the safety of all participants and so that you can hear instructions from volunteers, please consider keeping the volume low or running with only one earbud in.
Can I run or walk with my stroller?
Strollers are allowed but we ask that participants with strollers start in the back - please note that this is a recreational category and you will only receive one finisher's medal for this category.
Can I bike or rollerblade?
Our race is designed for runners and walkers so bikes and rollerblades are prohibited.
Will you still hold the race if it's raining?
The race will take place rain or shine so please dress accordingly. In the case of extreme weather we will keep all participants updated via e-mail and the morning of at Fairy Lake.
